• Our 5th graders had so much fun at Track and Field day at Chaska High School. Some highlights include: tug of war, 1st place in boys relay race and cheering on our La Academia classmates with our school song!
  • On Friday, May 11th, Kinder Academy hosted their spring concert.  Ms. Mennicke directed the concert where students displayed their talents through singing and dancing.  Many families attended and enjoyed a sweet treat with their student after the concert.
  • 4th graders enjoyed a day exploring the History of Minnesota and then witnessing the Capitol in present day action.
  • First grade students took a field trip to Gale Woods Farm to finish up their unit on animal life cycles. They learned about and interacted with all aspects of the farm including the garden, greenhouse, and the animals: sheep, sheepdogs, cows, chickens, roosters, pigs, and cats!
  • Third grade students had the opportunity to attend the Festival of Nations this May. The students were able to discuss what they had learned about ancient and modern civilizations with representatives of nearly 100 ethnic groups. Students were given “passports”, generously donated by the PTO, and received stamps for each country’s booth they visited; some even wrote student names in their language! They were able to watch and partake in traditional dances, listen to stories being told and music played by musicians from around the world, while sampling foods from faraway lands. Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who joined us on this wonderful field trip!
  • Kinder Academy had a real Bee Keeper come to their classroom to teach us about Bees.
  • AP Spanish students from Chanhassen High came to visit our school. Students read a play together and the AP students answered questions about High School and their Spanish language journey
  • Kinder Academy classes enjoyed visiting the MN Zoo! Students were able to see living plants and animals and a variety of animal habitats. It was a hot day, but we had fun!
  • La Academia Kinders had a wonderful trip to the Minnesota Zoo!  There, they could apply all of their knowledge around living and non-living things, habitats, as well as ooh and aww at the cute, furry, slimy animals–and everything in between!
  • The all school planting day was on May 31st. The students participated in learning stations and were able to help plant the school garden. If your family is interested in helping with the garden over the summer, go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0f4daca929aaf58-laacademiakinder

Thanks to all the school support that helped make the garden happen: Kinder Academy PAC and La Academia PTO, parent volunteers, teachers/staff, and Carver County Master Gardeners. Also thank you to these groups for their donations: Jeffers Foundation grant, Lakewinds (plants), Fleet Farm (tools), Seed Savers, Johnny Seeds, Burpee, and Chaska Cub Foods and Pioneer Trail Caribou (refreshments for volunteers).
