Winter storm – activity changes 11/27

Due to the approaching major winter storm, the following changes have been made to programs and activities in Eastern Carver County Schools for Wednesday, Nov. 27. All district buildings will be closed until 3:00 p.m. to allow for snow removal. District activities and practices can go on as scheduled after 3:00 p.m. Activities sponsored by outside user groups are cancelled all day. Club Care/Kidz Venture is cancelled. FREE dental clinic, Adopt A Smile, at Chaska High School

Greeting Parents of students at La Academia/Kinder Academy, Eastern Carver County Schools is very happy to announce they are hosting their first ever FREE dental clinic, Adopt A Smile, at Chaska High School January 27-31, 2020.  The program is sponsored through Operation Grace.  Anyone without dental insurance will qualify!  You may print the attached forms, both in English and Spanish. Please be sure to complete all paperwork, including answering all necessary questions, and providing all signatures.   Return paperwork to the La Academia Health Office, deadline is December 20th.  If any part of the paperwork is incomplete, they WILL NOT see your child. Once forms are turned in, a schedule will be put together.  Your student will be notified of his/her date and time to come to the clinic. Transportation will need to be provided by the parent/guardian. New grant program helps school gardens grow

Eastern Carver County Schools is excited to launch a new School Garden Grant Program.  Funds for these grants are being generously provided by a community donor.  These grants will expand school gardens in the district and enhance outdoor learning experiences for students. Seven school gardens currently serve as a source of learning for students throughout the district. Teachers from a variety of studies, including science, social studies, and math/engineering often creatively incorporate their school garden into standards-based lesson plans to learn about topics such as life-cycle, germination, the history of the land, and more. Not only do students enjoy the school gardens and have fun taking care of them, but they also walk away with a strong sense of community and environmental stewardship.
